The Constitution Court yesterday accepted for consideration two separate petitions seeking a ruling on the constitutionality of the joint communique with Cambodia on the proposed listing of the Preah Vihear temple as a World Heritage site.

Thaksin told he cannot leave

Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra's latest request to travel overseas has been rejected by the Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions. On June 24 Mr Thaksin lodged a request through his lawyer for the court's permission to travel to China and England. Subsidies to cost B63bn, says PTT

PTT Plc, the majority state-owned oil and gas company, expects the government's oil and gas subsidy policies to cost it 63 billion baht this year, according to chief executive and president Prasert Bunsumpun. The liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) price-support scheme alone is projected to cost the company around 50 billion baht, as it needs to import the fuel at a price of US$950 a tonne but has to sell it for the equivalent of $330.

The Thailand Securities Finance Corp has announced that it will temporarily stop providing margin loans to retail investors effective next Tuesday.

Editorial: Alliance must be considerate
The People's Alliance for Democracy needs to review its role, having lost an appeal against a Civil Court order for it to clear the street. The court's intervention, prompted by complaints from parents and school children affected by the PAD's noisy protest and road blockade in front of Government House, clearly shows that not all people approve of its actions.
